PPV licence applicants warned against doing business with unscrupulous individuals

The Transport Authority is warning applicants for public passenger vehicle road licences to refrain from conducting business with  individuals purporting to be agents of the entity.
In a release, the authority said it has been receiving reports of  unscrupulous persons collecting millions of dollars from unsuspecting applicants.
It said based on the reports, prospective applicants are required to pay exorbitant fees ranging from $100,000 to $350,000 for licenses and up to $1.5 million for purchasing motor vehicles.
The Transport Authority said the current fee for new Hackney Carriage and Route Taxi licences is $15,000 while rural stage carriages are charged a per seat fee of $3,000 and an annual inspection fee of $10,500.
