Prime Minister defends administration’s stewardship

Prime Minister and Jamaica Labour Party Leader (JLP) Andrew Holness this afternoon came out in strong defence of the stewartship of his administration in managing the Jamaican economy.

Addressing thousands of party supporters and delegates this afternoon at the JLP's 75th annual conference at the National Arena, Prime Minister Holness argued that the economic indicators are pointing in the right direction, adding that there are a number of projects in the pipeline to create more jobs.

"Inflation - lowest, exchange rate - stablised, National Reservce - highest in decades. Highest number of people employeed in the history of Jamaica. Almost 80,000 jobs created so far...." the Prime MInister told supporters.

He also signaled that the Government intends to spend half a billion dollars in the next financial year to create more housing solutions for the poor and the indigent. 

According to Holness  more details of the plan will be provided next year and this is part of the Housing, Opportunity, Production and Employment (HOPE) Programme.

He also told supporters that young persons will benefit from employment associated with this initiative.
