Progress made in dispute with CAL flight attendants

Progress has been made, in easing the industrial unrest involving flights attendants employed to Caribbean Airlines' Jamaica operations.

A meeting was held Friday with senior officials from CAL's head office in Trinidad, and the Bustamante Industrial Trade Union (BITU).

The more than 100 flight attendants recently declared, that they would take industrial action, if  outstanding issues concerning salaries and benefits were not addressed.

“Based on the general discussions we are of the view that the management of the airline at the senior level now has a clear understanding of the issues.  We have agrees to continue discussions. Our next meeting will be October 1   where the management has indicated that they will be in a better position to make a better proposal to us in pursuance of settlement,” said BITU President-General, Kavan Gayle.
