The government has published data, which shows Jamaica's level of rainfall dipped below the 30-year average last year.
The data which was included in the Economic and Social Survey of Jamaica (ESSJ) 2013 publication, showed average annual rainfall last year was 1,470 millimetres.
That was 97 millimetres below the rainfall levels recorded in 2012.
Additionally, the rainfall in 2013 was 303 millimetres below what the country normally receives on average during the last 30 years.
St Elizabeth was worst affected by the lower levels of rainfall.
The parish experienced lower than normal rainfall in 9 of the 12 months last year.Trelawny, Westmoreland, Clarendon and St James were classified as being under extreme drought conditions.
