Red Rose market to be restored

Kingston Mayor Senator Delroy Williams

The Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation will carry out work this month to restore Red Rose market, off Spanish Town Road in Kingston.

The fish market is in disrepair and grappling with sewage issues. Additionally, the municipal corporation says it has a 22 per cent vendor registration rate, making it one of the most under-utilised markets in downtown Kingston.

Kingston Mayor Senator Delroy Williams highlighted that the rehabilitation project was started under the previous administration.

The mayor said he will assume responsibility for downtown Kingston markets which have accrued a deficit of more than $200 million since 2011.
