Lester Spaulding, Chairman of the RJRGleaner Communications Group is dead.

He died Friday morning in hospital.

He became Managing Director of Radio Jamaica in 1978.

Mr. Spaulding led the company through its expansion up to its recent merger to become the RJRGleaner Communications Group.

He had signalled his intention to step down as chairman of the nation's largest media group at the company's annual general meeting in September.

Mr. Spauding received national honours for distinguished service with the conferment of the Order of Distinction – Commander Class (CD). He was also a Justice of the Peace (JP).
