Road closures to facilitate carnival activities

The police are advising motorists to expect delays across the Corporate Area today as several roads will be closed to facilitate three carnival road marches.

The police say the closures started at 8am

Motorists should expect delays or detours along roads in and around New Kingston, Half  Way Tree and Liguanea in St. Andrew.

Some of  the affected roads include Hope Road, Knutsford Boulevard, Trafalgar Road, Waterloo Road, Eastwood Park Road and East Kings House Road.

Persons may visit the Jamaica Constabulary Force's website or social media pages to view a map of  the intended routes for the road marches.

And the police are warning they will be strictly enforcing no-parking zones during the carnival celebrations.

Motorists are being warned that illegally parked motor vehicles will be impounded at the owner's expense.

Music systems are also banned along the parade routes.

Meanwhile, no motor or pedal cycles, including quad bikes,  will be allowed to participate in the parades.
