Schools are to be issued with directives on how to guard against students and workers contracting the Chikungunya virus.
The Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, is to also issue an advisory on the Ebola virus.
This follows a meeting with the Ministers of Education and Health on Tuesday.
Education Minister Ronald Thwaites outlined other measures discussed.
“Also to deal with a very present issue which is t he need to keep clean water, especially in this time of drought. We will be asking the public health officials to keep watch on the schools,” he said.
To date Jamaica has recorded 10 cases of Chikungunya.
