Sections of St. Elizabeth, Portland affected by heavy rains

As sections of northern St. Elizabeth continue to be lashed by heavy afternoon rains, the community of Newton is the latest to report flooding.

Several homes and peanut farms were affected after more than two hours of heavy rain.
This has prompted residents to call for the Member of Parliament J.C. Hutchinson and Councillor for the Lacovia division, George Powell, to immediately carry out drain cleaning actvities.
A total of eight homes were flooded.

As a consequence of the rain, some sections of the north eastern Jamaica parish of Portland  were again left flooded on Wednesday night.
The bridge leading to Seaview Farm Road was blocked by water for several hours. This prevented residents from getting home.
The water has since receded.
The town of Port Antonio, Boundbrook and West Palm Avenue were also flooded.
