Senate approves 2017/2018 Budget

Following a 12 hour sitting, the Senate on Friday approved the 2017/2018 Budget following vigourous debate from both sides of the Chamber.

“The sitting was long because the contributions from the members were extended…..so, as is custom, they received additional time to make their contribution. It’s because of the significance of this bill, so persons put forward their particular positions,” said Government Senator Pearnel Charles Jnr.

The Bill was passed in the Lower House on Wednesday, following the walkout by members of the opposition People's National Party (PNP).
