Several injured after cold storage container explodes in Portland

Several persons were injured and a house, a church and a car extensively damaged after a cold storage container exploded in Kensington, Portland on Thursday morning.
The explosion occurred about 11 o'clock.
RJR News has been informed that the container was used to store bananas.
A meeting was in progress at the nearby Kensington Methodist Church when the explosion occurred.
Bernice Cox Williams, head of the church, said about 35 people, including children, were in attendance. She and two other adults were hurt, however, none of the children sustained injuries. 
The roof of the church was destroyed, some of the windows blown out and fixtures damaged.
A section of the wall of the house was also damaged.
