Several people not allowed to disembark cruise ship docked at Ocho Rios port

Michael Belnavis, Mayor of St. Ann's Bay

Several passengers and crew members on a cruise ship which docked Monday morning at the Ocho Rios Terminal in St. Ann were not allowed to disembark as Jamaica remains on high alert for the coronavirus, COVID-19.

Radio Jamaica News was informed that three passengers and fourteen crew members remained on the ship as they had elevated temperatures.

The ship, which arrived at 8 o'clock, carried 4,500 passengers.

Michael Belnavis, Mayor of St. Ann's Bay, told Radio Jamaica News there was a delay in the other passengers being granted permission to disembark as as the ship had been tardy in providing vital information to local health authorities.

However, he said those passengers were allowed to disembark after the information was provided.

The ship is scheduled to leave later on Monday.
