Several women held in St Catherine police raid

Several women suspected to be prostitutes were rounded up by the St. Catherine South Police early Saturday during a two hour raid on Port Henderson Road more popularly known as "Back Road" in St. Catherine.

They were warned for soliciting and told of  the dangers of  loitering on the road.

The police went to the area in search of  guns, contraband and wanted men.

Two women believed to be prostitutes were killed along Port Henderson Road earlier this year.

A police source told RJR News that the operation was also carried out in the wake of  a recent TVJ News feature on prostitution in the area.

The six part feature focused on prostitution in the area and the dangers many of  the women encounter.
