Opposition Spokesman on Finance Audley Shaw is seeking to clarify statements he made at the Jamaica Labour Party annual conference in relation to the Outameni controversy.
Mr Shaw had raised questions about the Development Bank of Jamaica's write off of debt to the company which operated Outameni. He blasted the government and lamented that public funds were wasted. But news emerged yesterday that the decision to write off the debt was made when he was Finance Minister, even though the investment was not written off until last year.
Mr Shaw is claiming that his comments on Sunday were only to show that the write off was a bad decision. He denies that he was suggesting political involvement in the matter.
