Some food establishments in Manchester closed due to public health breaches

A number of food establishments in Manchester have been shut down after being sited for public health breaches. 
      
The establishments, which include restaurants and three abattoirs, were shut down over the last two weeks.
 
Charmaine Palmer Cross, Manchester's Chief Public Health Inspector, said the abattoirs are owned by the municipal corporation.
 
"At this time all three municipal abattoirs are not operating and as such they (Manchester Municipal Corporation) are working assiduously and we are actually working together with them to ensure that the standards are uplifted and are maintained," she said. 
     
The Health Department is urging the owners of food establishments to comply with public health regulations. Guilty establishments have been given a maximum of thirty days to correct the breaches.
