Son of drug kingpin offered bail

Twenty year old Andre Hamilton, son of convicted drug kingpin Andrew Hamilton, was offered bail in the Corporate Criminal Court on Tuesday.

Hamilton of a Kingston 6 address who has been accused of money laundering, was offered J$5 million  bail.

Hamilton who is a student, was charged by detectives following allegations that he and some members of his family helped his father to hide more than one billion dollars in drug proceeds sent back to Jamaica.

His mother was charged last year and prosecutors say they have evidence that the 20 year old signed off on documents transferring millions of dollars into purchasing real estate.

Defence attorney, Anthony Pearson said his client strongly denies the allegations.He said Andre was charged because he's the son of  Andrew Hamilton.
