South-bound leg of North South Highway closed due to landslide

The south-bound leg of the North-South Highway has been closed to vehicular traffic due to a landslide in the vicinity of Threadways and Unity Valley in St. Catherine.

The closure will primarily affect persons traveling between Moneague and Treadways. Motorists will need to exit the highway at Unity Valley and continue onto Mount Rosser.

The Ministry of Transport, in a statement on the matter, said the land slippage was a result of soil saturation following recent rainfall.

Operators of the highway are now trying to clear the debris.
