Special Commission to be established to examine violence

Prime Minister Andrew Holness says he will  shortly announce a special commission to look at violence in Jamaica.

He says the commission will recommend policy changes to the government which can help to address the problem.

The Prime Minister told a Diaspora gathering in London yesterday that Jamaicans tend to resolve conflicts using violence.

He also declared his intention to bring legislation to parliament to outlaw corporal punishment in schools adding that  re-socialisation would be required to end the practice in homes.
