The man who will lead salary negotiations on behalf of the government says he is not aware of any intention to impose a public sector wage freeze.
State Minister in the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service, Ruddy Spencer, was responding to some public sector groups stating that they will not entertain another freeze.
The Ministry has signalled that it wants to start wage negotiations next month for the 2017/2019 contract period. Mr. Spencer states that he is not aware of nor has been given instructions about a wage freeze and is eager to start negotiations by November/December. He says no wage claim has yet been received.
Mr Spencer says a few groups are yet to sign the 2015/2017 Heads of Agreement. They include the Jamaica Medical Doctors' Association.
