One of the country's most topical legal issues is slated to be ventilated in the Supreme Court today.
The application for certain declarations in relation to the status of Arthur Williams, Dr Christopher Tufton, Nigel Clarke, and Ruel Reid in the Senate is to be heard.
The matter is scheduled for 11 o'clock, and is to be heard by Justice Carol Lawrence-Beswick. The action was brought by Clerk for the Houses of Parliament, Heather Cooke, after the Senate passed a resolution for a final determination to be made, on which JLP Senators are properly appointed to the Senate.
The Senate chose this course of action, after the Supreme Court ruled that Dr Christopher Tufton and Arthur Williams never resigned from the Senate, because the letters used for their resignation were null and void.
The Senate is now seeking clarity, as well as the status of Nigel Clarke and Ruel Reid, who replaced them in the Senate.
It's also expected that today, an application will be made for Opposition Leader Andrew Holness, to be joined in the matter. Mr Holness has also appealed the court ruling, but a date has not yet been set for that hearing.
