A student died and 23 others were injured when a bus in which they were traveling overturned into a gully in the community of Black Hill in Portland Monday afternoon.
The students are from the Port Antonio and Titchfield high schools in the parish.
The incident reportedly occurred sometime after 3 o'clock on the North Coast Highway.
It's reported that the driver was overtaking a vehicle before approaching a corner when the brakes failed and he lost control of the vehicle.
The bus hit an embankment and overturned into the gully.
Keith Taylor, a resident of Black Hill, called for improvements to be made to the road to prevent a recurence of Monday afternoon's crash.
