TAJ warns of scam involving impersonation of its Compliance Officers

Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) has uncovered a scam in which individuals in Old Harbour, St. Catherine have been impersonating its Compliance Officers. It is reported that the impersonators have been demanding persons to pay over taxes to them or face court action.

TAJ has issued a statement advising members of the public that no business is to be conducted with persons claiming to represent the tax authority who fail to produce proper identification. The matter has been reported to the police.

TAJ says business persons with arrears should visit the Tax Office and speak with a Compliance Officer to make arrangements to pay. They may also create a payment plan using the Revenue Administration Information System on the TAJ website.
