Teachers at St Thomas high school stage protest

Teachers at a high school in St. Thomas have been staging silent protests, after an investigation was launched into a matter allegedly involving the principal.

The teachers, dressed in matching colours, marched around the institution during break-time as a sign of protest against the Principal.

The Principal has been sent on two weeks leave by the School Board.  The Vice Principal is acting as Principal.

On Tuesday, Assistant Superintendent St. George Jackson, Head of the Police Community and Safety Branch in St. Thomas, did not directly address the allegations.

Speaking at a Parent Teachers Association meeting at the institution, he appealed to the members not to hide incidents that occur in schools. He said, when incidents are hidden, unresolved issues create new conflict and put the students involved at risk.
