The management of the National Water Commission (NWC) has uncovered what is believed to be the widescale theft of equipment and material from the entity. The items are valued at millions of dollars.

A number of NWC employees could face prosecution in relation to the theft.

NWC Managing Director Kingsley Thomas confirmed that the police were called in after an investigation by the Commission's security team uncovered the theft.

Thomas says the investigation revealed that equipment disappeared from the company's Marescaux Road plant.

He said the vehicle was tracked to a Corporate Area location and the suspects are expected to be questioned soon.

The items recovered include pipes, pipe fittings, valves as well as pump-related materials running into millions of dollars.
