Thirty held following marijuana haul in Westmoreland

Thirty people, including 16 women, were last night taken into custody during a major anti-narcotics operation in Orange Hill, Westmoreland by members of the Area One Narcotics Police.

The operation, which lasted several hours, resulted in the seizure of more than 700 pounds of cured compressed ganja along with equipment used for the compressing of the ganja.

Three properties were searched.

The operation comes on the heels of another major bust in the parish earlier this month when eleven people, including three Costa Ricans, were held and more than 1000 pounds of cured and compressed ganja seized.

The police also seized a boat in connection with that operation.
