Three arrested during operation in Annotto Bay, St. Mary

Assistant Commissioner Norman Heywood
Three persons were arrested Thursday morning on warrant during a cordon and search operation in Annotto Bay, St. Mary.
Some 225 people and 60 vehicles were searched.
Assistant Commissioner Norman Heywood, in charge of the Area Two police, said 40,000 DVD's and burners, as well as a quantity of ganja were also seized.
ACP Heywood told RJR News that the operation is in response to the upsurge in criminal activities in the town since January.
"We have had five murders, including the murder of a three year old child, and based on intelligence, we have information that different persons vying for different positions in gangs are loitering in the area and there are a lot of illegal activities going on," he explained.
He said the operations will assist in reducing murders and serious crimes to "make the Annotto Bay area safe for law abiding citizens."
