Three cops facing corruption charges

Three members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) have been charged with breaches of the Corruption Prevention Act.

Shemroy Hewitt, Andre Drummond and Conrod Clarke, who are stationed at the Hanover Police headquarters, were arrested last week by detectives from MOCA West.

It is alleged that on January 3, the police stopped a motorist in Hanover. The passengers were ordered out of the vehicle and during a search, documents relating to the lottery scam were allegedly found.

The three policemen are accused of soliciting and accepting $150,000 from the driver who subsequently reported the matter to MOCA West.

Following investigations, the policemen were charged.

They were each offered $500,000 bail when they appeared before the Hanover Parish Court on Monday.

They are scheduled to return on February 28.
