Traffic police conducting operations to remove heavy tints from PPVs

Deputy Superintendent Errol Adams of the Highway and Traffic Division

The Highway and Traffic Division of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) is conducting operations targeting transport operators who have still not removed heavy tints from their buses.

Personnel from the division carried an out an operation along Spanish Town Road in Kingston on Wednesday.

Public transport operators plying the Waterhouse to downtown Kingston route and buses from rural areas were targeted.

"I would say about 60% have been non-compliant - and that is in confirmation of the analysis that we would have done - and so, in response to these breaches, we would have removed some 25 pairs of plates, some 25 vehicles would have been asked to remove their tints on spot, and the Transport Authority, with whom we are working today, would have issued some 53 summons in response to these breaches," Deputy Superintendent Errol Adams of the Highway and Traffic Division told RJR News.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness announced the anti-tint measure earlier this year in response to incidents in which women and children were abducted.
