Trinidad providing state support to former PETROTRIN workers

The Trinidadian government on Monday announced plans to provide land for housing as well as funding for agro-businesses to former employees of the closed state-owned oil company PETROTRIN.
Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley told Parliament there are already substantially developed housing lots available under the Aided Self-Help Housing Programme in several parts of the country.
He said his administration will provide priority access for former PETROTRIN workers who require state support to own a house.
He said the government has also identified suitable agricultural land for those workers who are either already in agriculture and wish to expand or those who have an interest in entering the sector.
