Two drownings in Portland being investigated

Police in the north eastern Jamaica parish of Portland are investigating two incidents in which persons are suspected to have drowned. Both occurred on Thursday morning.

In the first incident, 35 year-old Carl Hamilton, otherwise called "Carlos", drowned in Turtle Crawle River. Mr. Hamilton was driving his car in Williamsfield when he reportedly lost control of  the vehicle which overturned in the river. An autopsy is to be performed later on Friday.

Meanwhile, a 16 year old boy drowned while fishing in San San Bay. He has been identified as Mark Hamilton of Sherwood Forest.     

It's reported that, about 11:30 am, Mark joined a group of seven youngsters who were attempting to swim across the tidal channel to Pellew Island, otherwise known as "Monkey Island", when he got into difficulties and drowned.
