Two men are in custody in relation to Wednesday's murder of taxi operator Claudia Thompson in Toll Gate, Clarendon.
Senior Superintendent Vendolyn Cameron Powell, head of the Clarendon Police, said the men are from St. Catherine.
They reportedly used a rented vehicle in the attack on Ms Thompson.
The police have not yet identified the motive for the attack.
It is reported that Ms Thompson was at a tyre repair shop when she was killed during a drive-by shooting.
SSP Powell said the police have detected a trend where persons committing major crimes in the parish are using rented vehicles from St. Catherine.
She is calling for regulations for the rental of motor vehicles.
