Two Jamaicans jailed for six years in Cayman for ganja

Two Jamaicans who were nabbed with more than 1,000 pounds of ganja on board a canoe in Caymanian waters have been jailed for six years.

Rovan Johnson, 33 and Albert Campbell, 59, who admitted trying to smuggle the ganja, valued at CI$1 million, were caught in July, 38 miles off the coast of Grand Cayman.

Caymanian police found the boat with the two men, who are both from Westmoreland, drifting after encountering engine trouble.

The officers arrested the men and brought them, the drugs and the boat to shore.

The Jamaicans pleaded guilty in a Caymanian court in September.
