Two killed at Hellshire beach during alleged shootout with police

Two men were killed and their firearms seized on Tuesday after they allegedly opened gunfire at the police in Hellshire, St. Catherine.                   
 
According to the Hellshire police, officers responded to reports about 5:30 p.m. that gunmen were at the Hellshire Beach Club, otherwise called Sugar Man Beach.
  
The police said they were greeted with gunfire on entering the property.
  
They said the fire was returned and one of the attackers was hit.  
  
The other reportedly ran into a room and began firing at the police from under a bed.  
  
The police said he was subsequently hit in response.
  
A .45 pistol with five rounds and an Intratec sub-machine gun with three rounds were reportedly taken from the men.
  
The police are yet to identify the bodies.
   
The matter has been reported to the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM).
