A meeting will be held on Monday with the administrators of the Environmental Health Internship Programme at the University of Technology and the Health Ministry regarding a new policy governing the use of clinics for training purposes.
The 2014/2015 Internship programme is in limbo due to the policy.
A letter written by Head of the School of Public Health and Health Technology at UTECH, Professor Winston Davidson, says the policy states that the Health Ministry will no longer pay interns.
In addition, training institutions will be required to pay the Ministry or the Regional Health Authority for hosting each intern.
The institutions will also have to sign a contract with the Authority.
