UTech encounters roadblock in resolving impasse with teachers

RJR News understands that the administration of the University of  Technology (UTech) encountered a roadblock Tuesday afternoon as it tried to end the sickout by some academic employees.
The protest resulted in a disruption of classes.
RJR News has been informed that the university's administration tried to call a meeting with the University of Technology Academic Staff Union, however, this did not materialise due to the high level of absenteeism.
Nebert Langley, President of the University of Technology Academic Staff Union, told RJR News that the Government has failed to settle wage issues which have been outstanding for some time.
Last month, the union suggested that it would not exclude the use of  firm methods to get its grouses heard in relation to concerns about a salary adjustment which should have been granted in 2007.
