Health Minister Dr. Fenton Ferguson is to receive a report next month on a probe into complaints about the treatment of patients at Jamaica's Victoria Jubilee Hospital in Kingston. The probe is being carried out by the South East Regional Health Authority.
During a visit to the hospital, Dr. Ferguson told the staff that he was aware of the challenges that exist at the facility. He added that the Health Ministry and the South East Regional Health Authority are addressing the issues in a systematic way.
The Health Minister said a new policy will guide how health workers interact with patients. He added that his Ministry will also be looking at increasing its investment in training, especially in the area of customer service, while focusing on continuous monitoring.
