A man who the police say was wanted for murders and shootings was killed during an alleged gun battle with cops in Granville, St. James on Thursday.
He has been identified as 32 year-old Amoy Young, otherwise called Pinky of Gordon Crescent in Granville.
About 9:30 am, the police went to Telament Drive in the community where Mr. Young was seen with two men.
They allegedly opened gunfire at the police after they were approached.
The police returned gunfire and the men reportedly ran in different directions.
During a search of the area, Mr. Young was found with bullet wounds.
He was pronounced dead at hospital.
A Browning nine millimetre pistol containing two rounds was reportedly seized.
Superintendent Michael Phipps, head of the Area One CIB, said Mr. Young, who was the leader of the MS13 gang based in Granville, was among St. James' most wanted since May 2018 following the murder of Ronald Samuels in Gordon Crescent.
The police say he was also wanted for shooting with intent, wounding with intent, illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition and rape.
The gang he operated is a breakaway faction of the Big Yard gang also based in Granville.
The police say both gangs are currently embroiled in a feud which has resulted in murders and shootings.
