Waters recede following flood in Thicketts, St. Ann

Residents of Thicketts near Discovery Bay in St. Ann who were marooned on Monday following heavy rains, are breathing a sigh of relief as the water from a large pond in the area that overflowed has receded.

Carlton Ricketts, Councillor for the Dry Harbour Division, said he spoke with representatives from the National Works Agency (NWA) about the problem but has not received a favourable response.

He said he will be pushing to have them rectify the problem that has been plaguing the residents for many years.

Several residents of Standfast in Brown's Town whose houses were flooded also want immediate remedial work to be done.
