Woman charged for stealing baby at Cornwall Regional Hospital remanded

Twenty-six year-old Melissa Harriott, who is accused of stealing a baby at the car park of Cornwall Regional Hospital on January 4, was remanded when she appeared before the St. James Parish Court on Wednesday.

She is due to return to court next Tuesday.

Arrangements are being made for Miss Harriott to get legal aid.

Presiding Judge Sandra Wong Small ordered that she be fingerprinted.

The accused and her boyfriend were arrested on January 6 after they were reportedly found with the baby in Norwood, St. James.

The child was allegedly stolen when her mother left her in Miss Harriott's care and went to use the bathroom.
