Athlyn Cole, the 39 year old woman who was charged with cruelty to a child following the discovery of her baby girl in a pit latrine in Alexandria, St. Ann is to appear before the St. Ann Parish Court on Friday.
Ms Cole was remanded after her case was mentioned on Thursday.
The judge ordered that an update on the child be provided to the court Friday.
The child remains in hospital.
Ms Cole was charged on Wednesday, after she turned herself in.
She had eluded the police for one week following the discovery of her child.
It was reported that the child was heard crying in the community of Hesse Cassel.
She was later removed from the pit latrine and taken to a hospital.
