Hilary Clinton calls Portia
RJR news understands that Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller this afternoon received a call from US Secretary of State Hilary Clinton congratulating her on her recent election victory.
A release from Jamaica House says Clinton spoke of the warm relations between Jamaica and the United States of America, and offered to get a team together to visit the island to explore how the US can be of further assistance particularly in the areas of security, education and poverty reduction.
Prime Minister Simpson Miller thanked Clinton for the offer, saying that the areas suggested would be of great assistance to the country.
In complimenting Clinton, Prime Minister Simpson Miller said the women of the world drew inspiration from her strength and achievements.
A week after Simpson Miller was appointed Prime Minister, US President Barack Obama had called to congratulate her.
