New board appointed to Firearm Licensing Authority
Cabinet has approved a new board for the Firearm Licensing Authority.
The appointments took effect on Monday and will remain in place for three years.
Errol Strong remains as Board Chairman.
Retired Justice Marva McIntosh is now the Deputy Chairman.
Lincoln Allen, Khaleel Michael Azan, Herbert Hamilton round out the five-member board.
Minister of National Security Dwight Nelson will address the new board at the FLA’s first meeting later this month.
The former board resigned en bloc last month after Minister Nelson complained that the authority was issuing too many gun licenses.

NELSON is an idiot. Look how ,uch illegal guns on the streets, isn't praticable for the citizens to armed themselves? This is the same man who told DUDUS, the US issued a warrant for his arrest? I hope he lost his seat and goes back to his Trade Union job.........If the JLP wins I hope Andrew olness do not give him any job unless is to be his water boy!
What. Was Dwight nelson trying to say that if one pass the requirements for a gun license that he or she should not get it , you see jamaica full too much corruption we complain every day about how the security forces are not doing anything to stem crime when we all know that they can not do it by them self and here are a few people ready to take up arms for justice willing to help put back jamaica to were it was and the government is against it. They are behaving has if the FLA board. Are giving out license to criminals what statement is the government sending out that only the rich and powerful in this country are to be arm and the rest of us sit like sitting ducks . Thank god for that concern five that still believes in equality and also believes that all man or woman meeting the requirement should have a chance to protect them self in fact the government should welcome the idea of it since they are not solving in crime in jamaica at less the revenue from these application can go towards the police force for better forensic equipment and training so that they may be better in investigative field to solve some of these crimes.
