Team to go hunting for dogs that killed toddler
A team from the Jamaica Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (JSPCA) will be heading to the community of Boat Island off Spanish Town Road in Kingston on Thursday in search of a pack of stray dogs which killed a little boy two days ago.
The team will be accompanied by the police.
Dr. Paul Turner, the Senior Veterinarian at the JSPCA, says a decision will be made on what to do with the dogs which have also been preying on animals in the community.
"(The team) will be going down there to investigate the situation and see what is the best measure we can put in place to capture the dogs or if possible, eradicate them," he said.
Three year old Dimitri Thomas was mauled to death by the dogs after he wandered outside his house early Tuesday morning.
It is reported that Dimitri's mother had gone to buy food.
The woman, who is said to be traumatised and has sought medical attention, could be in trouble as the police are carrying out investigations to determine whether to charge her under the Child Care and Protection Act.

This is a very pathetic situation. Every effort must be made to cordon off the community involves, with the effect of capturing every single dog dead or alive in order to eradicate the problem for good.
