Woman pleads guilty to $14m fraud
A former employee of National Commercial Bank (NCB) and her co- accused, who both pleaded guilty, this week, to defrauding the entity of approximately 15 million dollars, will have to wait until next week to know their fate.
Twenty-eight-year-old Carol Ferguson, who worked at the bank's headquarters in New Kingston, and 39-year-old bearer, Victor Stewart, were scheduled to be sentenced today.
The Presiding Magistrate, Lorna Shelly-Williams, postponed the sentencing and ordered that the two return to the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Monday January 30.
Earlier this week, Ms. Ferguson begged Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey to exercise leniency.
In admitting guilt she told the Court that she was sorry for her misdeed.
Ms. Ferguson added that her co-accused had no knowledge of how she obtained the money, as he was asked only to lodge the money.
She confessed that all of the money stolen was spent.
