Red Jet’s CEO says the company not in financial difficulties
Chief Executive Officer of REDjet Ian Burns has denied that its future is in jeopardy and need an $8 million injection to keep operating.
He was reacting to statements attributed to the low-cost carrier’s Barbadian shareholder Ralph “Bizzy” Williams in November and a more recent report about cancellation of flights.
Mr. Burns suggested Williams’ comments may have been made out of frustration, as he acknowledged the airline had faced continuous obstacles.
Mr. Burns reportedly said since Mr. Williams’ statement, REDjet bought its third aircraft, upgraded its maintenance facilities, employed eight captains and first officers and invested in the upgrade of the call centre by employing another ten people.
He also dismissed the media report which said the airline was forced to cancel several flights. He explained that the company has rescheduled its flights in order to facilitate new routes which will be announced in a few weeks.
REDjet operates seven routes in six Caribbean countries.
