Kohli and India dominate day 1 of opening test against Windies

The West Indies had to deal with an impressive batting performance from Virat Kohli on Thursday’s opening day of their first test against India at the Sir Viv Richards Stadium in Antigua.

Despite losing Murali Vijay and Cheteshwar Pujara early, India recovered from 74-2 to close the day on 302-4, thanks to captain Kohli who hit an unbeaten on 143 off 197 balls, smashing 16 fours along the way. He built a 105 run partnership with Shikhar Dhawan who scored 84 before being given out lbw.

Devendra Bishoo has been the pick of the bowlers for the Windies with figures of 3-108 while Shannon Gabriel has taken 1-43.

Kohli will be joined at the crease by Ravichandran Ashwin on 22 when play continues on Friday at 9:00 am Jamaica time.
