Last weekend, at a political meeting, Everald Warmington, MP for South West St. Catherine, made an arresting statement, to the effect that he does not and will not respond to the approaches of constituents who do not vote in elections (he made it clear that he was not saying they should necessarily vote for his party – the Jamaica Labour Party).

This provoked reactions of outrage and calls for Mr. Warmington to apologise and for his party to discipline him.

He rejected all such calls for apologies, however, insisting he had done nothing wrong.

On Sunday's (January 19, 2014) edition of RJR's weekly news review show - "That's a Rap" - host Earl Moxam and panelists Nadeen Spence (PhD candidate) Kavan Gayle, trade unionist and Opposition Senator, and Economist Joseph Cox, discussed the issue.
