Cuba to do cloud seeding next month

Cuba's Water Resources Institute has announced that a cloud seeding programme will be implemented on September 15 in a bid to relieve areas hard hit by the prolonged drought.

The effectiveness of the two-month programme, aimed at increasing rainfall in the eastern end of the island will depend on the conditions in the clouds that will be targeted with silver iodide that is used to facilitate the process.
