Liat cutting staff

Regional airline LIAT has begun reducing its work force.
    
Eligible employees are being asked to apply for voluntary separation or early retirement packages to avoid their posts being made redundant.
   
The company, explaining the rationale for the decision, said it was in keeping with an earlier promise to make LIAT a smaller airline this year.
It said downsizing is the only way the carrier can ensure its survival.
