10th place finish for Mears at Pan American Weightlifting Championships

Omarie Mears placed 10th in the 89kg category, as Jamaica began its campaign at the Pan American Weightlifting Championships in Santo Domingo on Thursday. Another Jamaican, James Daley is also scheduled to enter competition on Thursday.

The lone female on the team, American-based Yvgeni Sientje-Henderson will compete on Friday. The one week championships ends on Sunday. 

This is the first time Jamaica is competing at the senior Pan American Weightlifting Championships in over 20 years.
